Rail split RDM problem

We have entered some problems in an installation recently installed.
A DIN-mounted rail-split RDM is providing 6 lines of DMX to DTS Led spotlights (approx 8 units on each line).
It did work for a while but I just received a call from the electrician on site telling that 2 output lines from the rail split were ded. Changing to a new unit, also worked for a while but has now stopped working completely. The Rail split signal LED never lights up and all the output lines are ded. Changing back to the initial unit still works except the 2 ded lines (signal LED lights also up).
He has measured the output lines connected to the fixtures but doesn't receive any strange signal.
My question is whether this might be caused by something coming in through the DMX lines or if you have met similar problems with a recent batch of the product?

Hi Michael,

Just a few questions, what is the voltage of your power supply? How long are the DMX cables to your Fixtures?

We don't have any known problems with Rail-Split but if you could give some more info about your installation and the environment it is in we should be able to be of help.

Hi Tim,

The Power supply is 5VDC. .The lenghts of the cables are 20, 40 and 60 meters. The 2 outputs not working in the first unit supplied 2 lenghts of approx. 20 meters. All lines have approximately the same amount of fixtures.
I wonder if there is a non static fault in some of the fixtures (outdoor fittings). Maybe if water is coming into the units and a high voltage would leak into the dmx-signal. Would the rail split act as described before?

It sounds like the transceivers may be blown. Can you send it back for repair?

Please check if your fixtures are on the same mains earth as your Rail-Split.

Hi Tim,
Sorry about the delay. Yes - they are on the same mains earth. They will probably send it back for repair, but right now they are investigating the fixture to find out the source of the problem.
If the tránceivers are blown would that cause 2 output lines to fail as in the first case and not having any data signal LED indicated as in the second case. I mean could these 2failures happen from a dirty signal via the outputs?

Hi Michael,

It is possible that multiple failures could be the result of noise. The input is opto-isolated but the ouputs are not.
